The spec sheet reads like something $400 more expensive: 26-inch housing, 21-inch intake, 212cc engine, six forward speeds plus two reverse, electric start, headlight, remote chute. In the snow it performs like its engine size suggests. A 212cc engine behind a 26-inch housing is a slightly wider bite per cc than a 24-inch machine, which shows up only in the deepest, wettest snow — you drop a gear and keep going. The throw is a legitimate 30-plus feet, the impeller clears itself well, and the six speeds give you a real crawl for the plow ridge. Electric start is plug-in 120V; the headlight is bright enough for what it's for.
Where you feel the price is the details: the sheet metal and paint aren't Ariens-grade, the controls feel a little lighter, and there's no dealer down the street when you need a belt.
