EGO Power+ SNT2405 24-Inch Two-Stage Kit (2× 7.5Ah) Review

EGO's complete two-stage kit: a 24-inch, self-propelled, steel-auger machine with two 7.5Ah batteries and a dual-port charger in the box — nothing else to buy.

EGO Power+ SNT2405 24-Inch Two-Stage Kit (2× 7.5Ah)

The verdict

The SNT2405 is the EGO two-stage for people who don't already own EGO batteries. It's the 24-inch sibling of the SNT2800 — 20-inch intake, steel auger, variable-speed self-propulsion with reverse, a claimed 50-foot throw — sold as a turnkey kit with two 56V 7.5Ah packs and a dual-port charger. The narrower housing fits a standard gate and a single garage bay, and the kit price lands about where the SNT2800 does before you've bought a single battery. If your driveway is two cars wide rather than three, it's the smarter EGO two-stage.

Typical price: ~$1,650 (typical street price — current price shown on Amazon)

What we like

  • +Complete kit: two 7.5Ah batteries and a dual-port charger included
  • +Two-stage steel auger and 20-inch intake — plow ridges and gravel are fair game
  • +Self-propelled with variable speed forward and reverse
  • +Throws up to ~50 ft (mfr); four LED headlights; 200° chute control from the handle
  • +24-inch width fits gates and single bays; adjustable-height handle

What to know

  • −Kit price overlaps 24–26-inch gas two-stage machines from dealer brands
  • −Runtime shrinks fast in heavy, wet snow and plow piles
  • −Heavy for a battery machine — plan on garage floor space, not a wall hook
  • −Reviewers note the chute can drift under heavy-snow vibration

Full review

EGO's snow line has a hole in the middle for anyone shopping the catalog: the 21-inch single-stage kits come with batteries, the 28-inch two-stage doesn't. The SNT2405 fills it. Mechanically it's the SNT2800's architecture in a 24-inch housing — the same 20-inch intake, a steel auger feeding a separate impeller, adjustable skid shoes, variable-speed self-propulsion with reverse, and EGO's claimed 50-foot throw — and it ships with two 56V 7.5Ah ARC batteries and a dual-port charger. You give up four inches of path per pass; you gain a machine that fits through a standard gate and a kit you can run the day it arrives.

The runtime story is the one to read carefully. EGO rates the kit at up to an 18-car driveway in 8 inches of snow on one charge, and independent testing broadly backs the claim in normal conditions: Pro Tool Reviews cleared six four-car driveways of 4 inches of wet slush on a single charge, and light powder at lower auger speeds used only a fraction of the packs. Heavy, wet snow and end-of-driveway plow piles are a different matter — reviewers consistently report runtime falling to well under half, and Pro Tool Reviews noted the chute can get knocked off aim by vibration in that kind of snow. Peak Power draws from both batteries at once, so the auger holds its speed; it's the watt-hours that run out, not the torque.

The buying math is straightforward. At roughly the same money as the bare SNT2800, this kit includes the two 7.5Ah packs that would add $400–$700 to that machine — so if you don't already own EGO batteries, the SNT2405 is the cheaper path to a real two-stage. If you do own a pair of 7.5Ah or larger packs and clear a wide or long driveway, the 28-inch tool-only unit is still the better buy. Against gas, the premium over a 24-inch machine like the Husqvarna ST 124 buys push-button starts, no fuel or carburetor, far less noise, and batteries that run EGO's mower all summer. For a two-car driveway in real winter, that's a fair trade.

Best for: Two-car driveways, paved or gravel, in regions with regular foot-deep storms — for buyers who want a battery two-stage that's ready to run out of the box.
